Deroy studios were based in Carnforth, Lancashire and enabled all kinds of people to record and walk away with a finished disc. Some were just vanity projects and some were serious attempts to get a recording contract. There is a lot of crap on the label (as we have found to our cost) but also a few gems.
This Liverpool folk outfit did in fact get a contract with Decca on the strength of this disc. They play mainly traditional stuff - Leaving Of Liverpool, Copper Kettle, Seth Davey - but it's easy to see why they were signed up.
